ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON M. S. CLEMENT
During his 24 years as manager of the Scottsbluff and Gering factories, M. S. Clement, who retires March l, has played an important role in the industrial, agricultural and community
life of the North Platte Valley of Nebraska.
Mr. Clement was born at Canandaigua, New York, and was graduated from Albany Academy in 1913. As a youngster he enjoyed farm life and worked on local farms during summer vacations.
He entered Cornell University in 1914 to major in farm management, but left in his junior year for two years of army service. He served in France with a heavy machine gun battalion of the 27th division.
Mr. Clement first worked for Great Western in 1919 on a
beet seed farm at Sterling, Colo. In 1921 this operation was
dis-continued and he spent two years as a farm operator on a beet-growing farm at Sterling.
In 1924 he went to work as a fieldman at Sterling and was made manager of the Sterling district in 1929. He was transferred to Scottsbluff in 1936 as manager of the Scottsbluff-Gering factories, which position he has held since.
Mr. Clement has taken part in the activities of various
organizations including the Rotary Club, American Legion and Chamber of Commerce.
