Quicama National Park

• Situated 70km south of Luanda • Area of 1 million ha

• Bordered by Cuanza River in the north and Longa River in the south

• 120 km of Atlantic coastline on west • Established as game reserve in 1938,

• Diverse habitat

• Because of Civil War, virtually all wildlife decimated • Rebuilding began with the help of Angolan Army

• Special force soldiers were trained as rangers

• Ecological management study done by Centre for Wildlife Management, University of Pretoria

• 20 400 ha special conservation area fenced off against Cuanza River for reintroductions of wildlife
