Electric water heaters and

heat pump water heaters

Nordic Council of Ministers

This guide presents the technical documentation that you have to

pro-vide if the market surveillance authorities ask for it. There are however

other information requirements and requirements on web-information

that you always need to fulfil according to the regulations

Technical documentation for electric water heaters and heat pump water heaters

Demands

How to comply

Content of Technical Documentation to provide to market surveillance authorities

Electric water heaters and heat pump water heaters are covered by ecodesign requirements according to ecodesign Regulation (EU) No 814/2013 and energy labelling requirements according to Regulation (EU) No 812/2013. The requirements apply to electric water heaters and heat pump water heaters as described in Article 1 and 2 of the above mentioned Regulations.

The documentation shall be produced before the product is placed on the market.

The technical documentation shall be sufficient to enable assessment of the conformity of the product with the requirements. In this respect it is important that test reports are included in the technical documentation.

Name and address of supplier General description

List of applied standards

Identification and signature of the person empowered to bind the supplier

Technical parameters, measurement and calculation results and precautions Apply to both ecodesign and energy labelling

Company name and complete address.

Description of the model so that it is easily identified (model name and number, size etc.). (Applied measurement standards (harmonised standards and/or other standards). Name and signature of the person responsible for the product.

Technical parameters and measurement results • Daily electricity consumption Qelec

• Indoor sound power level LWA in dB

In addition, for water heaters for which the value of smart is declared as being “1” (if the smart control factor SCF ≥ 0.7, the value of smart is 1, otherwise 0): • Weekly electricity consumption with smart controls Qelec, week, smart in kWh

• Weekly electricity consumption without smart controls Qelec, week in kWh

In addition, for heat pump water heaters: • Outdoor sound power level LWA in dB

Results of calculations

In accordance with methods set in ecodesign Regulation Annex IV and the energy labelling Regulation Annex VIII.

• Water heating energy efficiency ƞwh in %

• Heat generator water heating energy efficiency ƞwh,nonsol in %

• Annual auxiliary electricity consumption Qaux in kWh

COMMISSION DELEGATED REGULATION (EU) No 812/2013 of 18 February 2013 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the energy labelling of water heaters, hot water storage tanks and packages of water heater and solar device.

Technical documentation for electric water heaters and heat pump water heaters

Demands

How to comply

Declared load profile, measurement results and product information Apply only to ecodesign

Declared load profile and results of calculations

Apply only to energy labelling

Specific precautions

State any specific precautions that should be taken when heater is assembled, installed or maintained.

Declared load profile

Declared load profile, in accordance with Regulation Table 1. Measurement results

In addition, for storage water heaters with declared load profiles 3XS, XXS and XS: • Storage volume V in litres

In addition, for storage water heaters with declared load profiles M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL and 4XL:

• Mixed water at 40 °C (V40) in litres Product information

• For heat generators designed for water heaters, and water heater housings, state their characteristics, requirements for assembly so it complies with ecodesign requirement, and where appropriate the list of combinations recommended. • Information relevant for disassembly, recycling and/or disposal at end-of-life. Declared load profile

Declared load profile, in accordance with the Regulation Annex VII Table 3. Results of calculations

In accordance with methods set in the Regulation Annex VIII. In addition, for water heaters under average climate conditions: • Annual electricity consumption AEC in kWh in terms of final energy

In addition, for heat pump water heaters under colder and warmer climate conditions: • Water heating energy efficiency ηƞwh in %

• Annual electricity consumption AEC in kWh in terms of final energy

This guide presents the contents of the Regulations and is addressed to manufacturers, importers and others interested. The guide is not a substitution for the Regulations, and in any case of doubt, the Regulations are applicable. This guide is not legally binding as a binding interpretation can only be made by the EU court.
