ON

We, the Student Body of Beth-El, would like to dedicate our 1976 yearbook to Mrs. Anne Rinehart. We thank her for her gift of friendship to us. We remember that her door was always open to us regardless of how small or great our need. Her deep concern in the school was shown by countless hours of effort in counseling,

teaching, and administration. Her family also gave her and the school much support. We are grateful for their volunteer services in moving the school. Her sense of humor, enthusiasm, curiosity, skill, knowledge, and genuine caring fulfilled the qualities of a successful director. She was dedicated to the Student Body and the improvement of the objectives of the school. We hope that our dedication to nursing will be worthy of her efforts on our behalf.

THE fL~G.

Every country has its own flag. Our flag did not always look the way it does today. In the early days the colonists lived in thirteen separate

colonies, each with its own flag.

The first days of the Revolutionai;y War, the colonists carried their old flags into battle. They needed one flag to stand for all the colonies

fighting together. The American flag was to have

a star and a stripe for each of the thirteen colonies.

The Betsy Ross Flag with 'the stars arranged in a circle was based on the idea that no colony should

take precedence. This flag evolved into our present day flag.

All other flags soon disappeared ~ffer the Stars

and Stripes was adopted, yet the insjgnia shown

on some of them appears occasionally on a state

flag.

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic, a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its constitu-tion, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to

def end it against all enemies.
