Technical documentation for household washing machines

Demands

How to comply

Content of Technical Documentation to provide to market surveillance authorities

Household washing machines are covered by ecodesign requirements according to Regulation (EU) No 1015/2010 and requirements by energy labelling according to Regulation (EU) No 1061/2010.

The requirements only apply to washing machines as described in Article 1 and 2 of the above mentioned regulations. The documentation shall be produced before the washing machine is placed on the market.

The technical documentation shall be sufficient to enable assessment of the conformity of the washing machine with the requirements. In this respect it is important that test reports are included in the technical documentation.

Name and address of supplier General description

List of applied standards

Identification and signature of the person empowered to bind the supplier

Calculation results and information

Apply to both ecodesign and energy labelling

Indication of silver ion and measurement results

Apply only to energy labelling

Company name and complete address.

Description of the model so that it is easily identified (model name and number, size etc.) – and a list of equivalent product models, if relevant.

Applied measurement standards (harmonised standards and/or other standards). Name and signature of the person responsible for the product.

Results of calculations

A copy of calculations including energy efficiency index, washing efficiency index, water consumption and remaining moisture content etc. carried out in accordance with Regulation 1015/2010/EU Annex II and delegated Regulation 1061/2010/EU Annex VII.

Models where the data is obtained from another product model

Where the information in the technical documentation is based on calculation or extrapolation from another washing machine model, details of such calculations or extrapolations.

Furthermore a list of all other equivalent washing machines where the information is obtained on the same basis.

Indication for release of silver ion

State whether the washing machine releases or not silver ions during washing cycle as follows: “this product releases/does not release silver ions during the washing cycle”.

The energy efficiency index shall not exceed the limits for the declared energy class set in Regulation 1061/2010/EU Annex VI.

Measurement results and parameters:

• Energy consumption • Programme time • Water consumption

• Power consumption in “off-mode” • Power consumption in “left-on mode” • “Left-on mode” duration

• Remaining moisture content • Airborne acoustical noise emissions • Maximum spin speed

Copy of the information that shall be provided in the booklet of instruction (according to Regulation 1015/2010/EU Annex 1 point 1(2)).

This guide presents the contents of the Regulations and is addressed to manufacturers, importers and others interested.
