This is The North Bothnia Line
• 270 km new coastal railway between Umeå and Luleå
• Single-track railway with meeting stations, about 10 km apart
• Designed for 250 km/h
• 22 freight trains and 44 passenger trains/day
• Budgeted cost SEK 29 billion (2013-06)
We will build
• 270 km railway
• 550 km of roads (public roads, replacement and service roads)
• 250 bridges
• 2-5 tunnels
• 3 travel centers (Skellefteå, Piteå and Luleå)
• 4-5 regional train stations (Sävar, Robertsfors, Bureå, Byske)
This is what we do now
Umeå-Dåva, about 13 km
• 2 construction contracts are in progress
– Ground- /Soil reinforcement – Bridges
• In 2021, the tunnel and land contracts will be procured
Dåva-Skellefteå, about 120 km

Targets for procurement strategy
• Large design contracts - minimize the number of interfaces, reduce the need for coordination, uniform solutions.
• Mixed contract sizes - the majority are large contracts in the range of SEK 200 - 1,500 million.
• Strive for mass balance
• Standardized bridge constructions - minimize the number of unique constructions, increase quality while reducing the time for design, procurement and construction
