AN EASY-TO-UNDERSTAND SUMMARY

I finally did it! After more than six years of PhD studies, with two years of parental leave in between, I finally finished my PhD! If you are familiar with the research topic, please feel free to read my entire thesis!

Otherwise, I should first clarify that pan-cancer does not mean pancreatic cancer! Pan is a Greek term meaning ‘all’, therefore pan-cancer refers to a study that focuses on a variety of cancers. You can also have a look at the word-cloud illustrations on the front cover and see if those words ring any bell!

During my PhD years, I have studied the transcriptional responses to oncogenic mutational events, which are referring to genes that have a potential role in carcinogenesis (see study 1 and 2). In study 3, we investigate proteomic and transcriptomic alterations upon inhibition of a cancer driver gene using marketed oncology drugs.

Lastly, you should definitely have a look at the ‘ACKNOWLEDGEMENT’

section of the book, which is where I thank all the people that helped me during these years. I hope that you can find your name somewhere in there!

And if not, you are definitely among ‘Others’.
