This dissertation is concerned with the consequences of asymmetric infor-mation in the automobile insurance market. It consists of five separate and self contained essays that analyze information asymmetries in terms of risky traffic behavior. Three of the essays are based on a database of insurance contracts and traffic violations, while two essays provide theoretical analyses of how the problems of asymmetric information regarding traffic behavior may be alleviated.
