VICTIM AT CRIME EXPERIENCIES OF MEDIATION WITH VICTIM AT CRIME IN ÖREBRO MUNICIPALITY

Abstract

The aim with the essay is to examine and have a deeper knowledge of victim at crime experiences of mediation with victim at crime in Örebro municipality. In order to respond to the study's aim three issues formulated. The method comprise an existing quantitative part and one qualitative part. The qualitative part comprise six interviews.

The quantitative result shows that the majority has a positive opinion about the mediation procedure. The qualitative part shows that all was contacted within a reasonable time and was informed about that their participations are voluntary. Most had positive expectations before the mediation meeting and considers that they get possibility to express to the perpetrator how they experienced the crime and its consequences and that the perpetrator ask about apology.

The majority of respondents thinks that the mediation meeting where positive and only one respondent considers that the mediation procedure contributed to a certain relief. The other considers that they didn´t felt some relief after the mediation meeting then they not been hit personally of the crime and that the expectations they had before the meeting not neither fulfilled. Most considers that they after the mediation meeting could leave the event behind themselves but as regard their anxiety in order to be set for crimes in the future did not contribute. All considered the mediator that impartial during the mediation meeting.
