piotr kozlowski (1969) graduated from the Medical Academy in Warsaw and is specialist in hematology, inter-nal, and general medicine. Since 2005, he is employed at the Department of Medicine/Hematology Section at Örebro University Hospital. Member of the Swedish Adult ALL Group since 2010.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a rare malignancy in adults, with generally poor prognosis despite applying intensive and elaborate protocols. This thesis comprises four population-based studies on ALL characteristics and treatment of: relapsed, T-, B-ALL with minimal residual disease evaluation, and ALL in older/elderly patients. Some prognostic factors for survival were defined, and it was concluded that the therapy results were unsatisfactory mainly in elderly patients, those with relapsed disease, and T-ALL. The obtained knowledge should contribute to further treatment guidelines development.
