jean-philippe deschamps-laporte (b. 1985 in Montréal, Canada) joined the PhD program at Örebro University after obtaining a BBA from HEC Montréal and a MSc in Economics from Dalarna University. His main research interests are cen-tered on questions relating to poverty, welfare and housing. This thesis investigates empirical microeconomic frameworks where treatments and market dynamics affect decisions by households in terms of leveraging and investments in physical and human capital. It first deals with the impact evaluation of large-scale aid programs on the productivity of smallholder farmers in Kenya. It also analyses questions relative to the housing wealth effect in British Columbia (Canada).
