List of corrections
• References (18, 33, 62, 65, 109, 127, 131, 141, 152, 156) had a duplicated number. Duplicated references were deleted and the remaining reference numbers were adjusted to match the original version.
• Reference Chiu et al., (2003) (23) was in caps lock.
• The link in Miller reference (102) was no longer working. The reference is now in book format. • The conclusion section in Manuscript III entitled “Influence of knee angle on plantarflexor post
activation potentiation” was missing.
There was no change in content of the text. However, small errors were fixed in the updated version: Red represents changed or deleted.
Green represents the new alteration.
Abbreviation list – “Sec” was added as abbreviation for series of elastic components p. 11- The word "α actin" was changed to "α actinin"
p.12 - The word “Think” was changed to “thick”
p.12 - The word "motility" was changed to "length perturbation"
p.12 - Reference (68) in the last paragraph was excluded from this sentence:
"Although the cross-bridge cycle is a complex system, it can be simply divided into force generation and non-force generation phases (Fig 1A) (68), where transition between phases could be represented as two rate constants Fapp and Gapp respectively (14, 46, 68, 137)."
p.13 - Section 1.1.3 in the beginning, the word “promotional” was changed to “proportional”
p.13 - In the end, "As an example, RTD has been found to be related to the rate of cross-bridge formation
between actin and myosin (88, 123)," is now "As an example, RTD has been suggested to be related to the rate of cross-bridge formation between actin and myosin
p.13 - The last references on this page " (7, 86, 92, 101, 161)" weredeleted.
p. 14 - In the beginning, " During the early phase of the E-C system" is now "During the early phase of
the E-C coupling"
p.14 - "Fapp" should always read "Fapp".
p.15 - In the third paragraph, the word “previously” and reference (139) are incorrect and
should be (169) - It should read:
"Such results confirmed that the strong association between MLC phosphorylation and twitch PAP observed in mice (169) was also seen in humans".
p.15 - Just before the last paragraph, the word "twitch" replaced the word "submaximal" :
"Although this Pi behavior is in line with the significant decrease seen in animal experiments Bruton et
immediately after MVIC both in our latest experiments and in other earlier PAP-related studies (6, 54, 64, 115).
p.18 In the end of the stiffness section, " and daily" was added to the last sentence:
"It is therefore possible that some of these protocols result in sufficient tendon strain to cause changes in stiffness, impacting muscle contractile properties, sport and daily performance (13, 117). Thus further research should be performed in order to investigate the possible effects and implications of PAP induction protocols on the passive elastic components of a MTU.
p.20 In section 1.2.2.3, second paragraph, the reference (110) should be deleted (red) and placed (green)
as follow:
"Intensity and volume of the PAP induction CC are known to play a relevant role in the subsequent twitch and performance potentiation behavior. It is commonly accepted that PAP increases in response to increased CC intensity, and decreases as soon as the volume of the CC starts to generate fatigue (54, 135,
159, 110).Initial reports on the tibial and plantar flexor muscles reported a optimal duration of 10
seconds and a minimal intensity of 75 % of the MVIC to attained a small visible twitch potentiation (159). However, recent studies have found significant twitch PAP from CC intensities as low as 30 % of the maximal torque (72, 135), and for as short as 3 seconds for twitch potentiation, and 5 seconds for isokinetic knee extension (3, 54, 105, 110)."
p.21 In section 1.2.4, the sentence "We rather think that different underling mechanisms are regulating
these two forms of acute enhancements. As Rassier et al., (2000) (88) and Baudry et al., (2007) (6) mention, without proper assessment…” should read:
“We rather think that different underlying mechanisms are regulating these two forms of acute enhancements. As Rassier, in Macintosh (2010) (88) and Baudry et al., (2007) (6) mention, without proper assessment…”
p.23 In the end, Hopkins reference number was missing.
p.35 The second paragraph "RT1090" should read " "RT1090" . Additionally in the same paragraph "As in O’Leary et al.,..." should include the year " As in O’Leary et al., ( 1997)”
