Development, Trade and Investment

Stockholm 26-27 August 2016

Please note the revised date

A conference on Development, Trade and Investment will be held in Stockholm on 26-27 August 2016 by the Stockholm China Economic Research Institute at Stockholm School of Economics, jointly organized by the National School of Development at Peking University.

Trade and foreign investments have played a central role in China’s development since the beginning of the economic reforms. However, the role of trade and investment continues to change as high economic growth has transformed China from a low- to middle-income country.

This conference will collect academic papers at both the micro and macro level with the aim of providing empirical evidence concerning challenges for development in terms of trade and

investment. Papers that relate to these issues are therefore especially welcome. Topics covered may thus include but are not limited to:

• Trade

• Regional trade agreements

• China’s role in the world economy

• Economic growth

• Foreign direct investment

• Outward investment

• Industrial relocation

• Industrial competitiveness

• Labor market

• Development

• Middle-income trap
