The significance of the environment for the story; A fiction experiment

with environmental change as a start

The idea of my work was to investigate the significance of the surroundings for a story. In my work I chose to work with two books from two different authors. One book is called Priset på

vattnet i Finistère, (in English: The price of water in Finistère) by Bodil Malmsten (2001) and

the other book is called Vad jag talar om när jag talar om löpning, (in English: What I talk

about when I talk about running) by Haruki Murakami (2010). From these books I selected

some scenes and moved them to a new environment in my literary experiment, to study what happens to the scenes when they take place somewhere else. The questions I have been working with is as follows:

How is the environment shaped?

How does the story change when the environment changes?

What significance does the environment have on the story?
