Tips when taking the road ferry
In order to make your crossing as smooth as possible, here is some advice which may be useful to you when you are travelling by ferry.
Be ready!
Be ready to drive on board the ferry as soon as it has docked. Vehicles are let on board in order of priority, so please follow the crew’s instructions. Busses are let on first.
The traffic light shows you the way
Follow the traffic light instructions showing you in which lane you should position your vehicle on board. The lights are controlled by the crew.
Be attentive!
Please do not speak on your mobile phone while driving on board Heavier vehicles in the middle of the ferry
Heavier vehicles are put in the central lanes. The final passenger cars in the outer lanes are put on last so that they do not block the way for larger vehicles.
Park as close as you can
Please drive right up to the barriers or close to the vehicle in front of you.
This will provide space for more vehicles on the ferry.
Turn off your engine and your lights
Once you have parked on board, please turn off the engine and apply the handbrake. Turn off all the lights in the car, particularly in the evening. Car lights may dazzle the ferry captain and other nearby ferries.
Motorcyclists are requested to keep their bikes steady Please ensure that your motorcycle is parked so that there is no risk of it falling over if the ferry sways.
Have a nice trip!
