Vinnitsa State Medical University, Vinnitsa, Ukraine. After completing his specialization in Anaesthesiology, he has been working at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Railroad Clinical University Hospital, Kiev, Ukraine. He decided to continue his career in Sweden and from 2004 was engaged in teaching Clinical Anatomy to medical students at Uppsala University, where later on, in 2005, he was registered as a PhD student. Since 2008, he is a PhD student at the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Örebro University, with Professor Marie Johannesson and Professor Godfried M. Roomans as his supervisors.
Cystic fibrosis is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by a defect in the cyclic AMP-regulated chloride channel CFTR, that affects the functionality of multiple systems. The disease is mainly characterized by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and abnormal sweat gland function. This work presents recent studies intended to find a pharma-cological treatment of this inherited severe disease.
