! ! ! Words can not describe the feeling I had when I saw so many people lining up by Saint Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church last Sunday aernoon for our annual walk with Our Lady of Fa#ma. The day was picture perfect and I thought that might adversely affect the number of peo- ple showing up for the walk, but certainly that was not the case. From the opening prayer, to the sending off of the balloons that looked like a rosary, to the recita#on of the Rosary in English, Spanish and Italian, to the hymn singing and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the walk seemed effortless and spirited. As we made our way through the neighborhood, people were standing in storefronts, some were waving from their apartments, and sever- al senior ci#zens greeted us from the lawns in front of their apartment com- plexes.!

!! ! Like last year, there were quite a few people wai#ng for the statue and pilgrims to arrive. They too had recited the Rosary while wai#ng for our arrival. As the procession reached the church the statue bearers brought Mary’s statue to the sanctuary while we were singing the hymn in honor of Our Lady of Fa#ma. This was followed by hymn singing and ended with Ben- edic#on of the Blessed Sacrament. It was a beau#ful Holy Hour that added to the solemnity of our 200 year Anniversary Celebra#on. All present at this walk seemed quite pleased with the way the aernoon Holy Hour devel- oped.!

!! ! Something of this magnitude took an awful lot of planning and devo-

#on and certainly made it a labor of love. Yes there were many people in- volved with this effort. There are too many to men#on by name. However, the prime mover who kept everyone on their toes to bring this to a success- ful conclusion was our own Steve Bosque. It was his brain child and he per- sonally got everyone involved in its execu#on. I want to thank Steve for all his devo#on in this regard. May God bless him for the way he reminded us to honor Jesus’ mother and pray for world peace.!

!! ! Last Sunday at our 11:00AM Mass, we were treated to some beau#- ful organ music from a thirteen year old student. Not only did he play the !

! ! Even though many found the teachings of Jesus

“difficult”, He did not back down. In our families, it is important to say what is difficult to hear, to speak the truth with kindness, to correct with love and guide with understanding.!

hymns very well, but he also treated those who stayed aer Mass to a beau#ful rendi#on of some classical mu- sic. We were in awe and the applause was loud. His mother told me aerwards that it was such an honor for Dominick to get to play our pipe organ and to have so many choir members sing along. It doesn’t get any beHer than this. His name is Dominick Fiacco and he is a student of Mr. Steven Best of First Presbyterian Church.

We wish him much success in his con#nuing studies.!

!

! ! The BAZAAR is geFng close. Have you sold your raffle #ckets? We hope you can take some extra books and sell them as well. They are available aer Mass in the ves#bule. I hope that you are bringing in your old jewelry, pots, pans and trinkets for the AFc Treasures. There are always some supplies that we can use to cut down on expenses like paper tow- els, coffee, napkins, takeout con- tainers, soda, water and wine. Everything you bring makes our boHom line grow. MOST of ALL, WE NEED YOU to volunteer to be under the big top and assist us in running the booths. Please fill out a volunteer sheet or call the rectory to volunteer. We need you. Remem- ber the money that we make from this Charity Bazaar goes to keep our Outreach Program running. The words of Jesus are never truer: “The poor you will always have with you!”!

I am honored to be one of the graduates awarded. I would also like to thank Father Buehler, as well the rest of the St. John’s Community, for everything they have done over the many years for my family and me. This church, along with its many memories has consistently mo#vated my love for service as well as ins#tuted a compassion for all within me.!

! ! Thank you again for everything.”!

!The Bazaar is almost here. Are you ready???!

!

We are s#ll in desperate need of a booth co chairperson for Appliances, a person who is willing to chair or co

chair the Grocery Game on Saturday only, and someone who might be willing to cochair AFc Treasures, espe- cially during the weeks preceding the bazaar. HELP!!!!

!

AFc Treasures is now open on Monday through Friday from 10 AM un#l3 PM and will con#nue un#l the Tues- day before the bazaar (Sept.4th). Please, we would like gently used items in working condi#on only. As usual no suitcases, purses, golf clubs, old TVs that are not flat screen, outdate computer equipment, clothing, Christ- mas trees, large pieces of furniture, broken glassware or dishes, extremely worn cookware, etc. Remember, we changed the name from Trash and Treasures because we got too much “trash” that we then had to dispose of. !

!

Any new items for the Gi Shoppe will gladly be accept- ed. Check your last year’s unused, unopened Christmas gis. It’s the perfect regiing opportunity. !

!

Sharon Mazza is puFng out a call for handmade items for the Cra Booth. Call Sharon at 3154045077 for spe- cifics or if you have dona#ons.!

!

Are your baskets plans ready for our Basket Raffle? Remember to include a lis#ng of the con- tents and a “name” for your basket. Drop them off at the parish center M F between 10 & 3.!

!

How about those plants? Our Plant Booth would love a nice variety of house plants along with any house plant stands, pots, mums, etc. but please wait un#l the week of the bazaar to drop the plants off.!

Gently used toys which your children have aged out of are encouraged for our Toy Booth. Please, no broken items. Stuffed animals should be washed and clean.!

!

!

Our Religious Goods booth is seeking religious items in good condion rosaries, statues, pic- tures, books, etc.!

!

Hopefully, all of our wonderful bakers have their delicious speciales already baked and frozen or are planning them out. Please label sugarfree and glutenfree items .!

!

Please return your raffle ckets.!

!

Last, but far from least, the lime green volunteer forms (so you can’t miss them) are in church. WE NEED AND WANT YOU!!! Without our volunteers, we can not ‘man’ our booths in order to make the bazaar a great success. Please pick up a form, fill it out, and return as soon as you can so we can tell where our needs are for workers. As of today, we have only re- ceived about ten of them back. THANK YOU MUCH! !

!

Also, look in the church where we place the bulle1ns for a list of supplies needed for this year. WE DON’T NEED PAPER OR STYROFOAM PLATES! !

!

As always “SEE YOU UNDER THE BIG TOP!!!”!
