THE BENEFITS OF BEING A MENTEE
Taking part in the program as a student is a unique chance to benefit from the experience of the extensive SSE network. You will be able to discuss your career choices and get some invaluable advice. However, being a mentee comes with a responsibility. You are expected to be engaged and driven to get the most out of the mentoring. It’s important that you take initiatives, book meetings and remind the mentor when it’s time to schedule an appointment. The mentors are extre- mely busy people, their time is valuable and you must be able to respect this in order to make the mentor meetings successful.

The time commitment for being a mentor to a MSc student is expected to be four meetings during the aca- demic year. The meetings can take place at your office, at SSE or at the location of your choice. In addition, there will be a kick-off event at the start of the pro- gram, where you will get some useful tips on how to get the most out of the mentoring experience and get the opportunity to meet with other mentors and mentees.
There are no “required hours”- as with all important relationships, it is the quality, rather than the quantity, that makes a difference. The responsibility for buil- ding and maintaining a successful relationship rests with both mentor and student.
MENTORING ACROSS BOARDERS
Our SSE virtual meeting room enable mentor relations across boarders. SSE would like to welcome alumni based internationally to take part as mentors in the program. SSE also encourages MSc students who are on exchange year to participate as a mentee.
