This thesis presents methods that can be used to develop complex products via modelling, simulation and optimization.
The aim is to present and investigate how to utilize surrogate models efficiently to reduce the computational effort of performing optimizations of complex models.
Methods for probabilistic optimization are also included to take variations and uncertainties into account to present solutions that are both optimal and robust.
The performances of the presented methods are demonstrated for both analytical and industrial problems.
