MASTER THESIS PROPOSAL – MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT
BACKGROUND
IFS Applications is an extended ERP solution including EAM, CRM, FSM and more. Companies using IFS Applications are primarily manufacturers in for example automotive, food or hi-tech or asset intensive industries such as utilities, aerospace, defense or power generation.
The majority of manufacturing companies using IFS Applications are mid-sized and international, competing on a global marketplace.
DESCRIPTION
Supply networks including manufacturing, distribution and transportation have gradually increased in complexity. Underlying causes includes benefits of scale, eroded trade barriers and the internet. This has increased the importance of Master Data Management – an enabler for successful supply chain integration.
MDM allows all involved parties to speak the same language. The scope of this master thesis is to investigate to which extent global standards for master data exist and how they can be integrated with an ERP like IFS Applications
GOAL
In order by priority we are interested in the following:
• Suggest a future approach for MDM that would benefit our customers
• Outline how this could be done supported by examples or if possible a prototype.
• Investigate recent research and competitors to suggest potential future investment areas for IFS.

• Interest in ERP solutions
• English in writing and speaking since analysis and presentations likely will involve parties in other countries
