1 Thank you for your interest in the finance PhD program at the Stockholm School of Economics.
Some information that could be helpful for the electronic application follows. Please study this information carefully.
1) To apply, you will need to have the following materials (in pdf) ready:
Your Curriculum Vitae
University transcripts and certified copies of certificates from universities, including a certified copy of your graduation document
A description of how exams are graded at your university
A Statement of Purpose: a concise statement concerning your plans for PhD studies and your career objectives. The statement should be written in English, and should not exceed 1,500 words.
One copy of your most advanced essay within economics or finance
You will also need the email addresses of at least two (maximum three) reference letter writers.
2) Go to the following website and fill in the necessary fields in order to register for an applicant account: https://editorialexpress.com/cgi-bin/hh_register.cgi
The login details will be emailed to you. Follow the information and the link provided in the email in order to access your candidate account.
3) Once you have logged in to your candidate account, click on the tab “My Recommenders” at the top of the displayed website. It should look like this:
Once you have clicked “My Recommenders”, you will be asked to enter the contact details of at least two, but at most three reference letter writers.
4) Once you have entered the contact details of your recommenders, click on the tab
“My Application” at the top of the displayed website. After you clicked on “My Application”, on the next displayed site, click on the “PhD Programme in Finance” icon on the left of the screen.

5) The application consists of 3 parts. Part 1 consists of a number of questions. Part 2 consists of a page where you will be asked to upload the documents specified above (CV, transcripts etc.). In part 3, you will be asked to select your recommenders from the list (based on the information you entered before).
Note that in parts 1 and 2, required questions and uploads are numbered in black, while optional ones are numbered in white.
In part 3, highlight the recommenders you would like to ask for letters of
recommendation. Then click on “Update Info, but don’t submit application yet” in the menu at the bottom of the page.
6) Once you have completed all three parts of the application, click on the “Submit Application” icon at the bottom of the application menu.
While you are in the process of completing the application, you can always click on the “Update Info, but don’t submit application yet” icon, log out, and log in again at a later point in time to continue with your application. The application is not complete and will not be considered until you have submitted it.
