This thesis focuses on economic evaluation of programs and interventions regarding children and adolescents with mental health issues, bullying victimization, and intellectual disabilities. The first paper examines potential links between mental health issues among adolescents and the class-size in Swedish schools. Our results suggest that there is no link between larger classes and mental health issues. The second paper estimates the societal willingness to pay to reduce bullying in Swedish schools – this measure could be used in evaluation of anti-bullying programs. Next, the third paper estimates the cost-effectiveness of a recently introduced anti-bullying program in Sweden, the Finnish KiVa program. In the two last papers evaluate a program supporting adolescents with intellectual disability to make a smoother transition from education to regular employment. The program is evaluated both from a municipality’s (payer’s) and societal perspective. For the munici-pality it would take nine years before break-even is reached for the investment in the program, and for the society it would be cost-efficient 10 years after the implementation of the program.
