6.3. Begränsningar och rekommendationer för framtida studier

En uppenbar begränsning med studien är dess överförbarhet. Resultatet är baserat på de företag som medverkar i studien och deras kontexter och kan därför inte överföras till andra sammanhang. För att öka överförbarheten skulle det därför vara intressant att genomföra liknande studier i andra branscher och jämföra resultatet. Resultatet berör den operativa nivån, vars hållbarhetsarbete är av betydelse men påverkan på miljömässig och social hållbarhet är begränsad. Den stora påverkan gällande hållbarhetsfrågor inom klädbranschen rör utsläpp och mänskliga rättigheter, vilket berörs på strategisk nivå. Det vore därav intressant att få ledningens perspektiv hos de större kedjorna för hur och varför de övergripande målen sätts och på vilket sätt vägledning ges för att uppnå dessa mål. Eftersom efterfrågan från kunderna till stor del styr affärernas hållbarhetsengagemang skulle det vara givande att få kundernas perspektiv på vad som skulle kunna få dem att handla mer hållbara plagg. Hållbarhet är ett komplext ämne som involverar många parter och det vore även spännande att fördjupa sig inom produktionsprocessen för hållbara plagg och därmed få djupare förståelse för leverantörernas perspektiv gällande hållbarhet inom klädbranschen.
