Kan 3D underlätta processer i fältarbetet samt inkluderas som teknik i fältmetodik?

Jag finner att dokumentationen blir lättare att utöva, en enkel metod som registrerar med hög noggrannhet (De Rue et al. 2013; Lopéz et al. 2012). Börjar man redan nu med att registrera i 3D, möjliggörs det att man kan använda dokumentationen i forskningssyfte av flera personer inom olika sektorer, på ett helt nytt tvärvetenskapligt sätt senare i det digitala samlingscentrat. Även om 3D-GIS ligger i utvecklingsfasen kan dokumentationen i 3D redan nu göra att man kan använda modellerna när 3D-GIS har blivit ett mer stabil utvecklad och utforskad teknik.

Nästan vem som helst kan skapa en 3D-modell idag med bildbaserad modellering. Det

med programmen. Det är när man överför 3D-modellerna för vidare analyser till GIS som kunskap kan krävas. Därför är det bättre om 3D introduceras som en metod i arkeologiska tillvägagångssätt i fält under större utgrävningar. I och med den digitala utvecklingen kommer vi förlita oss mer på digital teknik och arkeologi kommer inte vara något undantag. Därför kan det vara bra att applicera denna dokumentationsteknik nu trots att 3D-GIS är under utveckling. Eftersom 3D-modeller kan skapas med hög precision kan de vara användbara när 3D-GIS har kommit längre i utvecklingen. Hur många arkeologer önskar inte att tidigare utgrävningar skett med moderna tekniker?
