Det ska bli intressant att se resultaten av hur de nya riktlinjerna från WHO 2010 påverkar minskningen av smittspridning av HIV från mamma till barn. Hur har det gått? Hur kommer det att gå med ökat ansvar inom HIV för sjuksköterskorna? Kommer beslut att tas tillräckligt snart så inte många behöver lida på grund av brist på kvalificerad sjukvårdspersonal?
SLUTSATS
Det viktigaste är inte vilken infantfeedingmetod man väljer av bröstmjölk och
mjölkersättning, utan att man ger det exklusivt (uteslutande) och inte blandar dem. Vilken infantfeedingmetod som används måste värderas och väljas utifrån varje områdes och familjs ekonomiska situation, sanitära förhållanden och sociokulturella traditioners inverkan.
Papporna och männen måste involveras i infantfeedingfrågan för att en metod ska kunna tillämpas exklusivt. Tydligare riktlinjer från sjuksköterska och andra hälsorådgivare gällande vilken metod som ska användas när samt i vilken kombination det ska användas efterfrågas. Ökad provtagning för HIV hos både gravida kvinnor och människor i riskområden i allmänhet behövs för att minska spridningen av HIV. Sist men inte minst behöver sjuksköterskorna ha ökad uppdaterad och god kunskap i ämnet.
