Fortsatt forskning med mer heltäckande frågor på en större population efterfrågas och att följa upp dessa patienter under en längre tid. I framtida studier bör vikten av relevant information och instruktion beträffande munhygienrutiner efter en implantatbehandling lyftas fram ännu mer, dels genom att genomföra en kvalitativ studie för att få djupare perspektiv.

Slutsatser

En förbättring i oral hälsorelaterad livskvalitet avseende alla studerade faktorer som upplevd tuggförmåga, smak, talet, munhygienrutiner samt självförtroendet, kunde ses hos en del pati- enter efter implantatbehandling. Flertalet patienter upplevde dock ingen förändring i oral häl- sorelaterad livskvalitet. Det är viktigt att behandlingen är patientcentrerad och att patienterna får en adekvat information och instruktion i munhygienrutiner avseende munhygien, samt att de erbjuds uppföljning hos en tandhygienist.
