För att ytterligare öka förståelsen för sambandet mellan utdelningsnivåer och utländskt ägande vore det intressant att studera hur utländskt ägande påverkar utdelningsnivåer utefter företagsstorlek, tillväxttakt och branschtillhörighet. Detta skulle ge ett mer nyanserat perspektiv på hur utländska ägare påverkar olika typer av företag och eventuellt visa på intressanta skillnader som är svåra att identifiera när aggregerade datamängder studeras.
Vidare vore det intressant att få insikt i vilken mån utländska ägare i Sverige påverkar företagens investeringspolicy. Detta skulle öka förståelsen för hur utländska ägare agerar som ägare och vilka mål de drivs av. Ett potentiellt kortsiktigt ägande skulle kunna speglas i en preferens av att göra investeringar som genererar snabba vinster. Data tillgången för en sådan studie är dock förmodligen låg, då man skulle behöva information om olika investeringar och deras avkastningar över tid.
Dessutom skall dessa investeringar länkas till de beslutsprocesser som sker inom företaget och om dessa är kopplade till utländskt ägande eller inte, vilket kan bli svårt att undersöka.
