8.6 Förslag på framtida forskning
Eftersom jag under denna studie endast kunde få tag på ett fåtal personer som aldrig har arbetat ideellt kan en liknande studie i ett större format behöva göras för att kunna dra slutsatser om vad det är som gör att vissa personer inte är villiga att arbeta ideellt. Det kan även vara intressant att undersöka närmre om huruvida min teori om att det ideella engagemanget kan växa till en vana stämmer. Vidare kan det behövas mer forskning om i hur stor utsträckning ledarskapet påverkar den ideella arbetaren och dess vilja att fortsätta engagera sig. Det kan även vara intressant att undersöka om och i så fall i hur stor utsträckning det ideella engagemanget stärker deltagarens självförtroende.
8.7 Slutord
Med den här studien hoppas jag ha kunnat bidra med en större förståelse för vad det är som gör att unga människor väljer att engagera sig ideellt på lång sikt. Jag hoppas även att studien har kunnat bidra med en viss insikt i varför vissa personer väljer att inte arbeta ideellt. Den största delen av mina informanter har trots allt varit mycket nöjda med att de ställt upp och arbetat ideellt och de har ofta ansett sig få väldigt mycket ut av sitt arbete. De har genom sitt engagemang kunnat utmana sig själva och arbeta med
saker som de inte trodde sig kunna, och de har fått möjlighet att lära känna nya människor som de inte annars hade träffat. De har därigenom fått ett nytt perspektiv på sin omgivning, och flera av dem har fått en större förståelse för sin omvärld och sina medmänniskor. Det kan alltså finnas mycket att få ut av ett ideellt engagemang, även om dessa saker oftast inte går att ta på.
