6. Slutsats och bidrag

6.3 Förslag på vidare forskning

Studien har kommit fram till betydande insikter beträffande hur en lagerdesign påverkas av artiklar med behov. Eftersom studien baserades på en kvalitativ forskningsstrategi är dess generaliserbarhet begränsad. För att kunna bekräfta studiens slutsats och därmed åstadkomma generaliserbarhet behövs likartade studier genomföras. Vidare skulle det vara intressant om dessa studier genomfördes med hjälp av en kvantitativ forskningsstrategi där olika lagerdesigner kan prövas. På så sätt kan andra lagerhanteringsmetoder visa sig vara mer effektiv än de som föreslås i denna studie. Med hjälp av fortsatta studier går det att konstatera huruvida denna studies insikter faktiskt är valid.

Studiens tidsram har inte möjliggjort en fördjupning inom de organisatoriska problemen som uppstår till följd av en stark tillväxtfas, samt hur dessa bör hanteras. Vidare har studien enbart baserats på ett företag vilket återigen begränsar resultatets generaliserbarhet. Mot denna bakgrund föreslås fortsatta studier inom tillväxtens inverkan på SMF och hur SMF på bästa sätt kan hantera tillväxten. Dock skulle en sådan studie ha ett större fokus på organisationsteori snarare än logistik. Med hjälp av fortsatta studier kan forskningen på ett tydligare sätt redogöra hur SMF bör hantera en stark tillväxtfas.
