6. Studiens slutsats, bidrag och begränsningar

6.4 Förslag till vidare forskning

För att bekräfta denna studies resultat och öka generaliserbarheten bör liknande studier genomföras i andra branscher och i andra länder. Denna studie har haft ett urval från Sverige och Finland, Smith (2009) har studerat ridsportbranschen i Sverige och Nowy et al. (2015) har studerat ridsportbranschen i Tyskland. För att ytterligare undersöka den befintliga branschen, ridsportbranschen är ett förslag till vidare studier att använda ett urval utanför Europa, förslagsvis Amerika. Men vidare studier bör inte enbart fokusera på ridsportbranschen, utan för att skapa generaliserbarhet till sportindustrin som helhet bör även andra sportorganisationer undersökas, exempelvis fotboll, tennis, golf och hockey. Dessutom bör även andra branscher utanför sportindustrin studeras, där en konkurrens mellan organisationsformerna också kan vara förekommande. I detta fall föreslår jag att vårdbranschen är ett relevant teoretiskt fält. Oavsett framtida bransch rekommenderar jag att eftersträva en högre svarsfrekvens i urvalet, då detta har varit denna studies främsta begräsning för generaliserbarhet.

Vidare forskning bör ytterligare undersöka hur den multidimensionella organisatoriska prestationen skiljer sig mellan vinstdrivande och icke-vinstdrivande organisationer. Detta motiveras av att denna studies resultat skiljer sig från tidigare studier. Förslagsvis vore det intressant att närmare undersöka varför och på vilket sätt den finansiella prestationen kan upplevas som högre i icke-vinstdrivande organisationer, jämfört med vinstdrivande.

58 Detta kunde ske genom att ytterligare splittra upp begreppet finansiell prestation och undersöka den finansiella dimensionen på ett djupare plan med fler perspektiv.

Avseende relationen mellan strategidiversifiering och organisatorisk prestation är ett möjligt förslag till vidare studier att undersöka sambandet över tid i PO och NPO. Detta för att se om den organisatoriska prestationen på olika strategidiversifieringsnivåer hålls konstanta, utvecklas eller försämras. För att genomföra en undersökning om strategidiversifieringens påverkan över tid skulle jag rekommendera att använda en kvantitativ metod med sekundärdata, för att skapa ett så stort urval som möjligt. Ett annat förslag till att undersöka strategidiversifieringsgradens påverkan på den organisatoriska prestationen är genom en kvalitativ metod genomföra intervjuer. På detta sätt vore det möjligt att undersöka hur förändringar i strategidiversifieringsgraden påverkar den organisatoriska prestationen positivt, negativt eller inte alls. Detta kan exempelvis undersökas om en organisation tidigare haft en relaterad affärsstrategi sedan väljer att reducera verksamhetsgrenar och enbart inrikta sig på en kärnverksamhet och vad detta har för följder på den organisatoriska prestationen. Genom en kvalitativ metod är det möjligt att öka förståelsen till strategidiversifiering och den organisatoriska prestationen, men även att ställa följdfrågor som uppkommer under forskningsprocessens gång.
