Denna studie genomfördes som svar på tidigare forskares uppmaningar om mer forskning om praktisk hantering av institutionell komplexitet. Denna studie har bidragit med ytterligare empirisk forskning inom fältet för fondförvaltning men bristen på empiriska studier kvarstår. Vidare forskning bör således fokusera på att kartlägga den praktiska hanteringen inom andra kontexter. Förslag på inriktningar som skulle kunna vara intressanta att utforska mer än vad som gjorts i denna studie är huruvida de åtgärder som kan observeras är medvetna strategiska val eller en emergent effekt. Ett annat intressant spår som inte fick lika mycket utrymme i studien men som vi i efterhand hade velat följa upp ytterligare är huruvida de praktiska lösningar som kunnat identifierats är av en permanent eller situationsspecifik karaktär, som en fortsättning av resultaten i Carlsson-Wall, Kraus och Messner (2016).

Även en bättre historisk kartläggning av avkastningslogiken och hållbarhetslogiken på fondmarknaden, likt Lounsburys (2007) kartläggning av trustee-logiken och en affärslogik, skulle vara en intressant studie för att kunna utveckla vår analys kring huruvida logikerna är på väg att smälta samman till en gemensam logik och i dagsläget befinner sig i en så kallad övergångsperiod.
