Den befintliga litteraturen och tidigare forskning lyfter behovet av forskning kring den nya generationens ungdomar samt deras relation, attityd och bestämningsfaktorer för
alkoholanvändning. Där det finns minimal kunskap om vad som predicerar den nya generationens alkoholdebut. Mer forskning kring sambandet mellan föräldrafaktorer och ungdomars alkoholanvändning, exempelvis för ett större urval samt bredda perspektivet för ämnet behövs. Denna studie utgick ifrån negativa föräldrafaktorer medan vidare forskning kan inkludera positiva föräldrafaktorer för eventuella skyddsfaktorer för alkoholdebut. Vidare forskning av ämnet kan leda till mer kunskap för bredden av vilka
bestämningsfaktorer utöver föräldrafaktorer och psykiska besvär som är prediktiva för alkoholdebut och som påverkar denna generations unga, där fler bestämningsfaktorer kan vara av betydelse både som risk- och skyddsfaktorer för ungas alkoholanvändning. Även mer forskning kring ämnet för den föreliggande studien kan bidra till att resultat kan
generaliseras i större utsträckning för hela populationen.
Kvalitativ forskningsmetod kan komplettera kvantitativa studier genom att undersöka på djupet för att få en förståelse för hur exempelvis ungdomarna upplever att föräldrafaktorer påverkar deras hälsa i stort men även i förhållande till alkoholanvändning. Detsamma gäller för psykiska besvär där kvalitativ forskningsmetod kan bidra till fördjupad kunskap för exempelvis antisocialt beteende och alkoholanvändning.
