CSR är ett aktuellt ämne och forskningen är delvis oenig om hur CSR hänger ihop med aktieavkastning och den finansiella prestationen. Det finns mycket information att utläsa om ett företag genom att studera hållbarhetsredovisningar vilket bidrar till minskad informationsassymetri men det är ändå osäkert hur och/eller om investerare kan använda sig av den informationen för att skapa avkastning. Tidigare forskning undersöker avkastning från hållbara investeringar, men inte hur informationen om CSR kan användas av investerare. Vi ser att det finns ett relativt outforskat område om hur information om CSR kan användas. Denna uppsats har visat en aspekt av hur

information om CSR kan användas för att eventuellt kunna utveckla en specifik investeringsstrategi, dock ser vi att det finns andra områden att använda sig av information om CSR vilket kan forskas vidare. Det finns idag objektiv och standardiserad information att tillgå om CSR och ESG via exempelvis Thomson Reuters, vilket skulle kunna användas för att utvärdera korrelationer eller samband med exempelvis aktiekurser, utdelningar, volatilitet, kostnad för eget kapital, eller lönsamhet.
Studien skulle även kunna utföras på en annan marknad för att inkludera ett större urval. Det finns även förslag till att utforma studien på andra sätt, för att djupare kunna undersöka CSR:s koppling till resultatet. Exempelvis skulle strategin kunna testas på företag som uppnår en viss nivå av CSR eller uppnår andra valda kriterier för CSR. Här ges även förslaget att undersöka olika portföljer med olika poängnivåer och se vilken avkastning de olika poängnivåerna uppnår. Dessutom skulle avkastningens korrelation till de olika investeringssignalerna kunna undersökas för att se om någon investeringssignal är viktigare än någon annan för att finna attraktiva företag att investera i.
