6. Konklusjon og oppsummering
6.3 Forslag til videre forskning
Det er flere forhold som synes interessante og relevante for videre forskning. Hvis vi ser på ett sentralt utgangspunkt i denne analysen, nemlig inndelingen i to hovedtyper, synes ytterligere forskning nødvendig. Så vel statistiske undersøkelser som casestudier kan anvendes for å utvikle videre de nye hypotesene både i forhold til selve inndelingen og med hensyn til valg av variabler. Her kan muligens modell 1 raffineres ytterligere.
Et annet forhold er diskusjonen om kritiske sårbarheter kan identifiseres og rammes hos voldsaktører i konflikter i kollapsede stater. Her er bør det være mulig å koble seg på temaene opprør og opprørsbekjempelse.
Det synes også nødvendig å vurdere nærmere om det kan være andre forhold enn selve tvangsmaktens anvendelse som medfører terminering av en konflikt. Det er her viktig å ta med seg at terminering i så vel Liberia som Kosovo skjer først etter en rekke utvekslinger. Muligens kan selve slitasjen eller utmattelsen være signifikant i forhold til effekt. En annen faktor kan være at den intervenerende part raffinerer sin strategi underveis og derfor lykkes.
