Hur ser då framtiden ut för organisations-kommunikation i Sverige? Glädjande nog kan vi konstatera att det finns vissa tecken på ett ökat in-tresse för organisationskommunikation inom svensk MKV-forskning. Ett exempel är att det för närvarande finns minst sex doktorander i medie-och kommunikationsvetenskap i Sverige som skri-ver avhandlingar som faller inom området organisa-tionskommunikation. Artikelförfattarna är samtliga doktorander vid Avdelningen för medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap vid Lunds universitet. Eftersom vårt kunskapsintresse är organisations-kommunikation och vi gärna vill upprätta en
forskningstradition samt öka intresset för organisationskommunikation i allmänhet, har vi initierat Nätverket för studier i organisations-kommunikation (NOK) (se <http://www.mkv.lu.se/ nok>).
Vi kan också konstatera att organisations-forskare inom andra ämnen – inte minst företags-ekonomi – alltmer har kommit att uppmärksamma kommunikationens centrala roll i organisationer. Czarniawska (1994:17), professor vid Handelshög-skolan i Göteborg, hävdar t.ex. följande:
Communication has conventionally been treated as one aspect of organizing, no doubt important, but not central. There is a growing awareness that communication may well be the central aspect of all organizing.
Att forskare från andra ämnen intresserar sig för kommunikation är säkerligen berikande för utveck-lingen av fältet organisationskommunikation, men kommunikationsforskare borde rimligtvis utgöra själva kärntruppen inom fältet eftersom det är vi som besitter de teoretiska kunskaperna om kommu-nikation. Kommunikationsforskare kan knappast skaffa sig patent på kommunikation som studieob-jekt, men däremot kan vi sträva efter att utveckla egna teorier och analysmodeller för att bidra till fältets utveckling (jfr Deetz & Putnam, 2001). Vi lever i en tid då företag och organisationer i sina många skepnader spelar en allt större roll. Det har t.ex. hävdats att vi idag lever i ett organisations-samhälle (Morgan, 1997) och att företagen blir allt en mäktigare institution, som utövar ett allt större inflytande över andra institutioner såsom stat, ut-bildningsväsen och familj (Deetz, 1992). Det ter sig då olyckligt och kanske rent av lite genant om MKV skulle stå utanför studiet av organisationer.
