Att identifiera metoder för att minska stress är av stor betydelse för folkhälsan på grund av alla de konsekvenser det kan medföra. Kan stress förebyggas och förhindras redan under tonåren kan detta medföra stora hälsovinster för individen och stora kostnadsbesparingar för samhället. Dock blir det utifrån det som framkommit i denna studie svårt att ge några
rekommendationer för hur stressförebyggande arbete för tonåringar i skolor bäst ska bedrivas, men desto viktigare blir resultatet som en vägvisare för framtida studier.Framtida studier kan med fördel genomföras i större skala med fler deltagare, och även ha längre
uppföljningsperioder för att kunna utvärdera interventionernas effekt på längre sikt. Studier i form av randomiserade kontrollerade studier bör också prioriteras. Att bedriva forskning på svenska skolor blir också viktigt, eftersom att en interventions effektivitet i ett land inte behöver innebära samma effektivitet i ett annat. Slutligen kan framtida systematiska
översikter och metaanalyser även satsa på större homogenitet mellan studieobjekten, där de kan undersöka olika typer av stresshantering var för sig.
