Resultatet kan bidra till en ökad förståelse och kunskap för hur kvinnor upplever sexuell hälsa vid depression och ångest. Resultatet kan förtydliga vikten av arbetsrutiner och riktlinjer för att ställa frågor om sexuell hälsa hos kvinnorna och öka medvetenheten för bland annat hur läkemedel påverkar sexuella hälsan. Kunskapen kan användas till exempel inom primärvården, slutenvården och äldreomsorgen då det är förekommande i alla åldrar och i många vårdsammanhang. Ämnet sexuell hälsa är viktigt att inkludera i omvårdnadsarbetet för allmänsjuksköterskan för att ge möjlighet till förbättrad hälsa och minskat lidande för kvinnor med depression och ångest. Resultatet har möjlighet att ge allmänsjuksköterskor kunskap om vad kvinnor vill ha för information och hur det påverkar kvinnorna. Kvinnor som söker till hälso- och sjukvården har rätt att ställa krav på sjukvårdspersonal att ämnet tas upp och har som rättighet att få vård med tydlig information och medbestämmande eftersom det är ett uppenbart problem. Resultatet kan hjälpa partnern att förstå kvinnans situation och hur viktig kommunikationen är för att skapa förutsättningar för en bra relation och för att kunna vara ett stöd.
Det framkommer att det finns kunskapsbrist hos både kvinnor och vårdpersonal därför är ett förslag på kommande forskning att öka medvetenhet, kunskap och förståelse om ämnet. Kommande forskning som kan beaktas är att öka förståelse kring hur kvinnornas sexuella hälsa påverkas vid olika ångest-och depressionsdiagnoser och åldrar. Mer forskning kring ämnet är relevant att genomföra för att förbättra personcentrerad omvårdnad.
