För att hedra minnet av Lars Inge Hedberg (1935–2005) som var professor vid MAI 1984–2005, anordnades 14–18 juni en konferens med omkring 100 deltagare.
Syftet med konferensen var att presentera state-of-the-art i dessa tre nära- liggande områdena, som har en lång tradition vid Linköpings universitet. Målet var att sammanföra experter samt unga forskare som är intressera- de av dessa frågor för att främja samarbete mellan dessa ämnen, liksom inom dem.
