7. Diskussion

7.3 Slutord

Den här uppsatsen tog avstamp i en bitvis hätsk samhällsdebatt om råd och rekommendationer som omger amning. Dessa råd och normer syns på flera sätt i den lokala samtalsnivån. Som jag redan har diskuterat, utförs ett omfattande interaktionellt arbete för att främja inringarens själv-bestämmande. Den försiktighet som finns att kring att ge alltför direkta råd och anvisningar, liksom tendensen att positionera inringaren som kompetent, kan sannolikt förstås som en ovilja att ge de pekpinnar som annan amningsrådgivning har kritiserats för. I ett samhälle fyllt av anvisningar och tyckande om hur amning ska gå till, lyfter stödpersonerna i samtalsmaterialet i stället fram inringarnas kompetens som föräldrar och deras frihet och rätt att fatta sina egna

beslut. Samtidigt är det tydligt hur både inringare och stödpersoner i samtalen tvingas förhålla sig till normer rörande amning. Som Pilnick (2002:345) visar kan etiska och moraliska frågor, utan att vara ett samtals huvudtema, skapa interaktionella utmaningar. Att det är kontroversiellt att ta starka läkemedel under amning och att sluta amma ett mycket litet barn blir synligt i de enskilda samtalen genom att deltagarna orienterar sig mot dessa föreställningar. I samtalen om känsliga ämnen behöver deltagarna hantera dessa normativa element parallellt med inringarens faktiska frågor. Samhällsnormer tar sig så in i den lokala samtalskontexten och blir högst när-varande och relevanta i samtalen. Att vidare undersöka hur moraliska och normativa aspekter av amning (re)produceras, diskuteras och hanteras i samtal är en viktig fråga för vidare forsk-ning. CA tycks härvid vara en användbar metod för att undersöka och visa hur samhällsnormer påverkar samtals förutsättningar och blir synliga i den lokala samtalskontexten.
