4.5 Slutsats

Föreliggande studie beskriver hur personer som genomgått en gastric bypass operation upplever sin livskvalitet. Resultatet visade att informanterna upplever bättre livskvalitet både fysiskt, psykiskt och socialt. Operationen ledde till livsstilsförändringar som bidrog till förbättringen men det fanns också svårigheter med livsstilsförändringen som till exempel att förändra sina matvanor. Sjuksköterskans förståelse för hur dessa personer upplever sin nya situation är viktig för att sjuksköterskan ska kunna stödja patienterna i sin fortsatta

livsstilsförändring. Att vara mentalt förberedd med vad operationen och den följande livsstilsförändringen innebär är viktigt för att lättare kunna hantera komplikationer och svårigheter. Genom att få en djupare förståelse av hur enskilda personer upplever sin

livskvalitet efter en gastric bypass operation kan sjuksköterskor bättre bemöta dessa personer samt sprida kunskapen vidare till både sjukvårdspersonal och patienter.
