5.12 Slutsatser och framtida forskning

Simulatorstudier med äldre deltagare har främst handlat om att i forskningssyfte jämföra körbeteende och prestationer med andra åldersgrupper. Även om flertalet studier upp- visade en negativ bild för äldre bilförare såsom sämre prestationer, kan man inte utifrån detta direkt dra slutsatsen att äldre är ”sämre” eller farligare bilförare ute i den verkliga trafiken. Det finns endast ett fåtal valideringsstudier varför man i de flesta fall inte har någon kunskap om i vilken grad körbeteendet i simulatorn speglar körbeteendet på verklig väg. När det gäller äldre, kompenserar de ofta för sina åldersrelaterade funk- tionsnedsättningar. Var gränsen för hur långt man kan kompensera för att uppfylla både säkerhets- och mobilitetskrav är dock inte klarlagt.

Det var i en ganska liten utsträckning som simulatorer hade använts i andra tillämp- ningar än forskning, till exempel inom träning/utbildningsområdet. En faktor som kan vara begränsande i detta sammanhang är simulatorsjuka, varför det närmare bör utredas vad man kan göra för att undvika/minska detta problem. Den tekniska utvecklingen går snabbt och det kan finna goda möjligheter att minska problemen med åksjuka om man har kunskap om orsakerna. Simulatorer har troligtvis en god potential för att bli ett viktigt verktyg för att både studera och utbilda äldre förare men en hel del utvecklings- arbete krävs dock fortfarande.

Our technical equipment includes driving simulators for road and rail traffic, a road laboratory, a tyre testing facility, crash tracks and a lot more. We can also offer a broad selection of courses and seminars in the field of transport.
