Denna avhandling stöder idén att en kontinuerlig hälsofrämjande livsstilsintervention baserad på interpersonella relationer, hälsoundervisning och diskussioner samt kognitivt stöd kan vara användbart för livsstilsförändringar bland personer med adhd och samtidig psykisk ohälsa. Att delta i gruppdiskussioner och skapa relationer i stödjande gemenskap visade sig vara framgångsrika sätt att få nya hanteringsstrategier för att försonas med lidande och nå hälsa. Gemenskapen med andra i liknande situation var betydelsefull för att minska lidande men också ökar lusten att leva. Gemenskapen spelade också roll för i vilken utsträckning personer med adhd och samtidig psykisk ohälsa lyckades förändra sina livsstilsvanor. Erfarenheten säger att denna livsstilsintervention med interpersonella relationer går bra att anpassa till andra grupper.

Resultaten av studierna som beskrivs i denna avhandling antyder att det behövs förbättringar i sociala och fysiska hälsodomäner och som stödjs av annan forskning. Exempelvis i en ny studie av Brown et al. (2019) fann man att vuxna med adhd har betydande funktionsnedsättningar som påverkar livet i vardagen trotts behandling. Därför bör denna livsstilsintervention utvecklas ytterligare och sedan utvärderas vidare. Jag rekommenderar en längre uppföljningsperiod för att utvärdera om interventionen visar hållbara

resultat på längre sikt. Avhandlingen stödjer också författarna Culpepper och Fried (2013) att adhd bör ses som en kronisk diagnos som diabetes eller astma och att deltagarna vid olika tillfällen kan behöva individuellt kontinuerligt stöd genom hela livet och på olika samhällsnivåer. Vidare behövs forskning om deltagande i individanpassade livsstilsinterventioner och faktorer som påverkar hälsan.

Trots komplexiteten att leva med adhd och samtidig psykisk ohälsa bär personerna på enorma resurser som är viktigt att föra vidare. Avhandlingens slutsats är genom en gemensam plattform (livsstilsinterventionen) där deltagarna i gemenskap stödjer varandra kärleksfullt, och kontinuerligt med sina livskunskaper kan livsstil förändras och på samma gång vara livräddande och också förhoppningsvis påverka levnadsomständigheterna i framtiden.

Slutord

Komplexa interventioner är som livsberättelser -de tar aldrig slut. Det är många olika stigar som formar och påverkar berättelsen, och det är inte bara en enda påverkan, utan flera som tillsammans skapar vägar i olika faser. Deltagarna har öppnat sin värld för mig genom sitt deltagande och sina berättelser och dessa måste spridas vidare. Nu återstår för mig att få makthavare och politiker att förstå alla människors rätt att vara delaktiga i samhället. Det gäller att förstå den utsatthet och de behov av stöd vuxna människor med adhd och samtidig psykisk ohälsa har, men också visa på deras fantastiska resurser som vi så väl behöver i vårt samhälle.
