Love relating to the Spanish land Grant problems.

I am advised that the State of New Mexico and others are researching the legal implications of the Spanish Land

Grant rights. As soon as a report is made we wi

try to make it available to you. In addition, negotiations are under way by the Federa

Gove mment to acquire large tracts of land in Costilla County which could later be made available to the

residents for grazing purposes.

We have asked the Federal Department of Agri-culture to keep us advised on the progress of this project. Since this is a very complex matter, I wi 11 contact you per-sonally the next time that I am in San Luis.
