Denver, Colorado, March 3, 1976 . • • The Great Western Sugar Campany announced today that it viill mail a second payment fo, 1975 crop sugarbeets to near:y 4,000 growers in five western states.

The payment will be mailed to growers in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska;

. Wyoming and Montana on March 19, and will a~erage $6.06 per ton of beets harvested, bringing the total paid to date to $28.23 per ton.

The figures were announced by LaMar C. Henry, vice president

-agriculture for Great Western Sugar, who added thet the total dolla~s to be disbursed in the second payment will amount to $32.9 mill ion, for a

total of $153.1 ~ill ion paid to date. Under: the terms of their participating contract with Great Western Sugar, payments to growers are based on :he

amount received by the company for sugar made from the beets. Hen,y noted that sugar prices have fallen drastically in the United States since last

year, resulting in reduced returns to both the growers and the company com-pared to year-ago figures.
