This guide presents the content of the technical documentation that

you have to provide if the market surveillance authorities ask for it.

There is however other information requirements and requirements

on web-information that you always need to fulfil according to the

regulations.

How to comply

Content of Technical Documentation to provide to market surveillance authorities

Air conditioners and comfort fans are covered by ecodesign requirements according to ecodesign Regulation (EU) No 206/2012. Requirements by energy labelling according to Regulation (EU) No 626/2011 also apply to air conditioners. The requirements only apply to air conditioners and comfort fans as described in Article 1 and 2 of the above mentioned regulations.

The documentation shall be produced before the air conditioner or comfort fan is placed on the market.

The technical documentation shall be sufficient to enable assessment of the conformity of the air conditioners or comfort fans with the requirements. In this respect it is important that test reports are included in the technical documentation.

Identification and signature of the person empowered to bind the supplier

Product information and measurements Apply only to energy labelling for air conditioners

Company name and complete address.

Description of the model so that it is easily identified (model name and number, size etc.). Applied measurement standards (harmonised standards and/or other standards). Name and signature of the person responsible for the product.

Technical parameters for measurements • Overall dimensions.

• Specification of the type of the air conditioner.

• Specification whether the appliance is designed for cooling or heating only or for both.

• The energy efficiency class of the model, range from G to A+++.

• The energy efficiency ratio (EERrated) and coefficient of performance (COPrated)

for single and double duct air conditioners or seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) and seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) for other air conditioners. • The heating season for which the appliance is declared fit for purpose.

• Power consumption thermostat-off and standby mode. • The name and GWP of refrigerant used.

• Sound power levels expressed in dB(A) re 1 pW.

Models where the data is obtained from another product model

Where the information in the technical documentation is based on calculation or extrapolation from another air conditioner appliance model, details of such calculations or extrapolations shall be included.

Furthermore a list of all other equivalent air conditioners appliances where the information is obtained on the same basis shall be provided.

The SEER/SCOP and EER/COP values shall not exceed the limits for the declared energy class set in Regulation (EU) 626/2011 Rounded to the nearest integer

Information set out in Regulation (EU) 206/2012 Annex I point 3 calculated in accordance with Annex II.

Results of calculations

The results of the calculation including values of EERrated , COPrated , SEER and SCOP

etc. performed in accordance with Regualtion (EU) 626/2011 Annex VII. Copy of information on website

Copy of information that shall be public available on a website (according to Regulation (EU) 206/2012 Annex I point 3 (a)).

This guide presents the contents of the Regulations and is addressed to manufacturers, importers and others interested. The guide is not a substitution for the Regulations, and in any case of doubt, the Regulations are applicable. This guide is not legally binding as a binding interpretation can only be made by the EU court.

Be aware of the rounding rules in the measurement standard.
