Small, medium and large

power transformers

Nordic Council of Ministers

This guide presents the technical documentation that you have to

pro-vide if the market surveillance authorities ask for it. There are however

other information requirements and requirements on web-information

that you always need to fulfil according to the regulations.

Technical documentation for small, medium and large power transformers

Demands

How to comply

Content of Technical Documentation to provide to market surveillance authorities

Small, medium and large power transformers with minimum power rating ≥ 1kVA used in 50 Hz electricity transmission and distribution networks or for industrial applications are covered by ecodesign requirements according to Regulation (EU) No 548/2014.

The requirements apply to power transformers as described in Article 1 and 2 of the above mentioned Regulation.

The documentation shall be produced before the product is placed on the market or put into service. The technical documentation shall be sufficient to enable assessment of the conformity of the product with the requirements. In this respect it is important that test reports are included in the technical documentation.

Name and address of supplier

General description

List of applied standards

Identification and signature of the person empowered to bind the supplier

Model information

Product information

Company name and complete address.

Description of the model so that it is easily identified (model name and number, size etc.). Applied measurement standards (harmonised standards and/or other standards). Name and signature of the person responsible for the product.

Models where the information in the technical documentation is obtained by calculation on the basis of design, or extrapolation from another transformer, or both, supply the details of such calculations/ extrapolations or both, and of tests undertaken by suppliers to verify the accuracy of the calculations.

Furthermore, provide the model identifier of the transformer on which the calculations etc. are based.

• Information on rated power, load loss and no-load loss and the electrical power of any cooling system required at no load.

• For dual voltage transformers, the maximum rated power at the lower voltage, according to the regulation Annex I Table I.3.

• Information on the weight of all the main components of a power transformer (including at least the conductor, the nature of the conductor and the core material).

• For medium power (where applicable) and large power transformers, the value of the Peak Efficiency Index and the power at which it occurs.

• For medium power pole mounted transformers, a visible display “For pole-mounted operation only”.

These information points shall also be included on the rating plate of the power transformers. fa ct s ab ou t t he n ordi c co-op era tio n

Equivalent product means a product model placed on the market with the same technical and performance characteristics, as another product placed on the market under a different commercial name by the same manufacturer.

Technical documentation for s mall, medium and large power transformers

This guide presents the contents of the Regulations and is addressed to manufacturers, importers and others interested. The guide is not a substitution for the Regulations, and in any case of doubt, the Regulations are applicable. This guide is not legally binding as a binding interpretation can only be made by the EU court.
