Beet Growers Receive
Final '66 Payment
The Great Western Sugar Co. pa i d $4,485,200 to growers Oc-tober 24 as final payment on the 1966 crop of sugarbeets grown in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas and Texas. A company of-fi.cial said payment to individual il'Owers is determined by sugar content of beets delivered.
Average returns per ton, in combined company and govern-ment paygovern-ments, will range from about $15.50 to $16.00 in differ-ent beet-growing areas.
On receipt of the October 24 payment, growers will have receiv-ed $64,462,000 for their 1966 beets, including direct company pay-ments and sugar act paypay-ments re-turned to the grQwer through the processing tax levied on the
com-pany.
The multi-million-dollar first payment on the 1967 crop, now being harvested, will be made by the company in November.
