• As a municipal enterprise we are restricted by law to only provide most of our services within the region.

• Commercialisation of intellectual property by licensing rights is a way to spread our knowledge outside this area.

• Today we have around ten international pending and licensed patents (biogas production, lightning, energy)

• The additive is patent protected and is used by many biogas plants around Europe.

Examples of on-going R&D projects

Research and development

Biogas research center (BRC)

• The aim of BRC is to create strong, national competencies leading to industrially and socially motivated research on and development of biogas solutions.

• Main emphasis is on process and technology, supplemented with systems research and social science for analyzing resource efficiency and social and business conditions as

this knowledge is central for resource-efficient biogas solutions to be implemented.

• BRC is financed to one third by the Swedish Energy Agency, to one third by

Linköpings University, and to one third by praticipatingpartnersfrom business and society.

Hefaistos – large scale heat storage

• ”To go where no man has gone before…”

• Unique characteristics of HT-BTES Hefaistos - Largest in Europe

- Warmest in the world

• Goal

• Capture 70 GWh heat in the summer and use it in winter.

• Feed temperature 107,5 °C, 50 MW output

• 1000 – 2000 drill holes, 200-300 m deep.

• Prestudy partly financed by the Swedish Energy Agency/Vinnova (RE:source)

• Projects in cooperation with Avfall Sverige – the Swedish Waste Management Association

• Hot Remote – Project with Ericsson, LiU, Stångåstaden, MSP on more efficient monitoring and provisioning of heat with IoT solutions. Smart city – Vallastaden, Linköping.

• Clear Waters from Pharmaceuticals (CWPharma) - The aim of the main project idea is to support the control of priority and emerging substances, especially pharmaceuticals, and to reduce their impact in the Baltic Sea environment. Fullscale facility with ozonation at Linköping's largest sewage treatment plant.
