– Wal-Mart 23rd largest economy –ahead of Norway and Venezuela

– Hewlett-Packard is only 11th on Fortune 500 but its 2010 revenues would rank it ahead of Vietnam and Morocco.

• Geopolitical risk

– Independent identity apart from their country of origin expose companies to increasingly complex and interdependent geopolitical risks.

– More strategic and proactive – need to formulate a coherent identity that is consistent across all markets

HOW do we address CSR?

Link between three cornerstones of policies:

• Open trade policy

– CSR is a tool for open trade – Not for protectionist purposes

– Must be business driven and business owned

• Development policy emphasize human rights and sustainable global development

– Swedish Export Credit Agency & Export Credit Corporations – assess CSR risk (Guarantees up to 50 billion Euro)

– Human rights UN Framework “Protect, Respect, Remedy”

• Tool for innovation and competitiveness

– New market opportunities, e.g. low emissions technology – SymbioCity concept

The Swedish Partnership for Global Responsibility (SPGR)

• Built upon Cooperation and Dialogue

• SPGR is an innovative Platform for holistic and integrated approach to policy planning
