APPOINTMENT
OF
KEEPER OF IRISH ANTIQUITIES
IN THE
NATIONAL MUSEUM, DUBLIN.
Applications are invited for the appointment of Keeper of the Irish Antiquities Section in the National Museum, Dublin. The salary of the post will be £600 per annum, rising by £20 per annum to £800 per annum, with Cost of Living Bonus on the usual Civil Service Scale; at the present råte of bonus £600 plus bonus amounls to £818 per annum. The post is a whole-time one carrying pension rights under the Superannuation Acts, and will be held subject to the pro- visions of the Civil Service Regulation Acts, and any regulations made or to be made thereunder.
The duties of the Keeper consist principally in the care of the Royal Irish Academy's collection of antiquities, which is housed in the National Museum. The Keeper is a Civil Servant, and is required to attend in the Museum at the regular hours prescribed for Civil Servants. He is further expected to organise and pursue researches in the field of Celtic Archaeology, with special regard to the objects in the Academy's collection, and to keep himself fully informed as to archaeological discovery, wherever it may occur, and to advise the Academy as to the purchase of objects offered for sale.
Candidates should produce evidence that they possess a thorough knowledge of Archaeology, with particular reference to the earlier pe- riods of human culture. They should submit lists of their published work, and furnish proof that they have had some experience of the work of an archaeological museum.
The qualifications of candidates for appointment will be reviewed by a Selection Board appointed by the Civil Service Commission.
